LECTURER IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY (OBGYN) (1 Post)

DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY

VACANCY NO: IRC 3341

The University of Botswana (UB), a state – owned tertiary education institution, invites suitably qualified, and experienced candidates for the position of Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Duties: The successful candidates will be expected to:(i) teach undergraduate medical students and graduate students in the Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (M. Med) program; (ii) conduct research in his/her areas of expertise (iii) supervise research projects for medical students and residents (iv) provide clinical care in affiliated hospitals; and (v) carry out any other duties as assigned by the department chairperson.

Requirements: Applicants shall have: (i) A minimum of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or other recognized medical doctor qualification (MD); (ii) A Master of Medicine degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent from a recognized institution; (iii) the qualification must be registerable by the Botswana Health Professions Council with a specialist status;

A recognized subspeciality certification in OBGYN, evidence of engagement in research, governance and social engagement, as well as teaching experience at a university or comparable institution will be added advantages.

(ii) strong academic leadership skills and sympathy for the values and culture of the University (iii) good management, human relations and sound analytical and coordinating skills.
