LECTURER IN MINING ENGINEERING

VACANCY NO. FET/CE 10/2019: LECTURER IN MINING ENGINEERING

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to; (i) teach undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Mining Engineering in more than one of the following courses: Mine Planning, Mine Supervision and Management, Surface Mine Design, Mine Drainage, Mine Power, Mine Environmental Management; (ii) conduct and produce results of scholarly work; (iii) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have; (i) at least a Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field plus; (ii) A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering obtained from recognized institution with at least a 2(i) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6 out of 5 or equivalent  (iii)  be registered or eligible for registration with a professional engineering body. The applicant should also show evidence of engagement in research and service. A PhD in Mining Engineering or related field and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. Preference will also be given to applicants with teaching experience at a university level or comparable institution in more than one area of the following: Mine Planning, Mine Supervision and Management, Surface & Underground Mine Design, Mine Drainage, Mine Power, Mine Environmental Management, Mining Geostatistics. A good research and publication record in areas relevant to Mining Engineering will be an added advantage
