LECTURER IN MICROBIOLOGY

VACANCY NO: FS/BS01/2022

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in microbiology; (ii) supervise both undergraduate and graduate student research projects within the department; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) participate in the academic and professional activities of the Department; (v) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a PhD in Microbiology with specialization in Cyanobacteria (ii) and evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages: (i) knowledge of microbial secondary metabolites and application of bioinformatics platforms; (ii) evidence of governance and social engagement; (iii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution.

NB: In special circumstances, a Master’s Degree in Microbiology with specialization in Cyanobacteria and microbial secondary metabolites, plus a Bachelor’s degree Biological Sciences or equivalent with at least a 2(i) pass or GPA of 3.6 may be considered on a contract basis.
