LECTURER (MAHALAPYE)

FACULTY OF MEDICINE - DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE & PUBLIC HEALTH MEDICINE

VACANCY NO: FM/DFM/PHM 01/2022 - LECTURER (MAHALAPYE)

Duties: the successful candidate will: (i) teach both undergraduate and graduate family medicine courses; (ii) supervise students’ research projects, (iii) conduct research in the areas of expertise; (iv) provide service for the university, profession and community; (v) undertake research supervision, community service, research grant writing and resource mobilization, contribute towards departmental strategic plan development, and create relevant industry links for competency-based learning of the MMed residents, nationally and or internationally; (vi) carry out duties assigned by the head of the department.

Requirements: the applicant should have; (i) a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or other recognised Medical doctor qualification (MD) and a Master of Medicine Family Medicine degree; (ii) be currently registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council as a family physician. The following will be added advantages: (i) relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (ii) evidence of engagement in research including presenting scholarly work at seminars and conferences locally as well as internationally; (iii) participation in research teams and collaborative programs, (iv) participation in reference committees and participation in peer review of manuscripts. The applicant should also demonstrate evidence of governance and social engagement.  The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any.  Publications should be categorised into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
