LECTURER IN HEMATOPATHOLOGY/CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY/ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGY, DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY(3-year contract)

FACULTY OF MEDICINE - DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

VACANCY NO: FM/DP 01/2023 - LECTURER IN HEMATOPATHOLOGY/CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY/ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGY (3-year contract)

Duties: the successful applicant will: (i) teach both undergraduate and graduate courses; (ii) conduct research in his/her areas of expertise; (iii) provide service to the university, profession and community; (iv) provide diagnostic support in affiliated hospital laboratories; (v) carry out any other duties assigned by the head of the department.

Requirements: the applicant should have: (i) a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB, MD) or equivalent qualification (ii) a Master of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent from a recognised institution in Hematopathology, Chemical Pathology or Anatomical Pathology; (iii) the qualification must be registered or registerable by the Botswana Health Professions Council as a specialist in Hematopathology/Chemical Pathology or Anatomical Pathology; (iv) evidence of engagement in research including presenting scholarly work at seminars and conferences locally as well as internationally; participation in research teams and collaborative programs; participation in reference committees and participation in peer review of manuscripts;

Added advantages: (i) experience of teaching at a University or comparable institution; (ii) evidence of governance and social engagement.

Attributes and skills required: (i) excellent communication and organisational skills; (ii) strong academic leadership skills; (iii) good management, human relations, sound analytical and coordinating skills.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any.  Publications should be categorised into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
