Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Lecturer in Counselling and Human Service in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: i) teach counsellor education courses, participate in clinical counselling supervision, practicum and internship supervision. ii) provide academic leadership through the enhancement of teaching, research, professional or community service; iii) take an active part in the supervision and assessment of undergraduate and graduate students’ research projects; iv) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department including research and curriculum review; v) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Candidates should have: (i) a Doctorate in any of the following areas: Counsellor Education and Supervision, Counselling and Human Services, Guidance and Counselling, Mental Health Counselling, School Counselling, Counselling Psychology, and Marriage and Family Counselling; (ii) a Master’s Degree in Counselling and Human Service or a related area with a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling and Human Service, Guidance and Counselling or related field (iii); Evidence of engagement in research (v) relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution, evidence of social engagement and evidence of professional affiliation will be an added advantage.
N.B. Applicants with a Master degree in Counselling and Human Service or a related area with a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling and Human Service, Guidance and Counselling or related field with a relevant Bachelor’s degree or cognate field with at least 2(i) pass or equivalent may be considered under special circumstances.
