LECTURER (Contract Position)

COMMUNICATION AND STUDY SKILLS UNIT

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Communication and Academic Literary courses to undergraduate students in any of the following: Humanities, Business, Science, Education, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences and Social Sciences; (ii) Conduct research in relevant areas and take an active part in the supervision and assessment of undergraduate and graduate students’ research projects; (iii) serve on committees within the University and external professional organisations; (iv) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a PhD in Communication and Academic Literary courses to undergraduate students in any of the following: Humanities, Business, Science, Education, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences and Social Sciences;; (ii) A Master’s degree in the same fields; (iii) a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields; (iv) show evidence of engagement in research.  Evidence of governance and social engagement as well as teaching experience at a University or comparable institution, and evidence of scholarship in Applied Linguistics, Communication Studies, Languages and literacy Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or related fields will be added advantages.  

N.B. Applicants with Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, Applied Linguistics, Language and Literacy Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or related fields with a Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields of at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent may be considered under special circumstances.
