LECTURER IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (CONTRACT POSITION)

VACANCY NO: IRC 1020

Duties:  The successful candidate will be expected to i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses such as distributed computing, mobile computing, and advanced operating systems; ii) supervise undergraduate projects but may be assigned to supervise graduate dissertations; (iii) conduct research in the relevant field; iv) carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Head of the Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a doctorate in Computer Science or related area specializing in distributed computing or mobile computing; (ii) show evidence of engagement in research.

The following will be added advantages: i) Evidence of governance (e.g. service to a university) and social engagement (e.g. service to the profession and community), ii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution will be added advantages.

N.B. In special circumstances a master’s degree in Computer Science or related area may be considered provided the candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields with at least a 2(i) (CGPA of at least 3.6/5) or equivalent and may be considered on contract basis.

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings), dates of publications, names of publishers, name/s of co-authors if any and page numbers, where applicable. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works, consultancies, and practical media projects.
