LECTURER - CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (1 POSITION) - DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

FACULTY OF MEDICINE - DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

VACANCY NO: FM/DP  02/2022 - LECTURER - CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (1 POSITION)

Duties: the successful candidate will: (i) teach both undergraduate and graduate courses; (ii) conduct research in the areas of expertise; (iii) provide service for the university, profession and community; (iv) provide diagnostic support in affiliated hospital laboratories; (v) carry out duties assigned by the head of the department.

Requirements: the applicant should have; (i) at least a Masters of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent PLUS evidence of sub-specialty; (ii) a first degree in medicine (MBBS, MD, MBChB) or equivalent qualification) from a recognised institution (iii) the qualification must be registerable by the Botswana Health Professions Council as a specialist status. The following will be added advantages: (iv) relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (v) evidence of engagement in research including presenting scholarly work at seminars and conferences locally as well as internationally, participation in research teams and collaborative programs, participation in reference committees and participation in peer review of manuscripts.

The applicant should also demonstrate evidence of governance and social engagement.  The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any.  Publications should be categorised into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. Attributes and skills required: excellent communication and organisational skills;
