LECTURER (BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS) – [2 Contract Positions]

DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING & FINANCE

VACANCY NO. IRC 2682                                           

DUTIES: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach Business Information Systems courses at undergraduate and graduate levels; (ii) provide research supervision to students at both undergraduate and graduate level (including PhD); (iii) initiate, promote and participate in research; (v) provide academic leadership through programme development and research in collaboration with colleagues in and outside the department ; (vi) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department; (viii) carry out any other responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department. The applicant must have demonstrable capacity to teach at least three of the following courses: Decision Support Systems; Systems Analysis & Design; Management Information Systems; Strategic Information Systems; Accounting Information Systems; Marketing Information Systems; Electronic Business, Enterprise Information System, Business Web Applications, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics, Information Systems Auditing, and Information Technology in Forensic Accounting. Additionally, the applicant must be conversant with programming languages and tools such as PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, Java and Visual Basic (including VBA).

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate should have i) A minimum of PhD in any business information systems related discipline (ii) a Master’s degree in Business Information Systems or relevant discipline from a recognized university or similar institution; (iii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems or relevant discipline from a recognized institution; (iv) show evidence of engagement in research and service; (v) demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications, clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any, preferably following the APA format. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books.

N.B. In exceptional circumstances, a holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems (or related field) may be considered provided that the candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with at least a 2(i) pass or equivalent.

Remuneration: The University of Botswana offers competitive rates.
