LECTURER- ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT

VACANCY NO: FH/ LIS 1/2020 – LECTURER- ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the area of archives & records management with particular reference to any three or more of the following courses:  preservation and conservation of documentary heritage materials, archives and records management, electronic records management, applications of computers in archives and records management, content management, digital curation. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach courses in archives & records management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; (ii) supervise students’ research projects, theses and dissertations at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels; (iii) engage in research and publication; (iv) supervise students in internship; (v) participate in all academic and  professional service activities of the Department as well as community engagements normally associated with a University lectureship; (vi) undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Candidates must have (i) a Doctorate Degree in Archives and Records Management or a related discipline; (ii) Show evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages; (i) Evidence of governance and social engagement; (ii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iii) Membership to any international, regional and national archives and records management association; (iv) an ability to conduct practical sessions with students in the Departmental preservation and conservation laboratory; and (v) familiarity with the use of electronic and document management systems.

N.B. Relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent may be considered provided that the applicant has a relevant Bachelor’s Degree with at least a 2(i) pass or equivalent.
