JUNIOR RESEARCH NURSE

We are a dynamic team of researchers based at the University of Botswana, the Botswana Harvard AIDS Partnership and the Ministry of Health primarily focused on improving health outcomes for people living in Botswana and the Region. JUNIOR RESEARCH NURSE

Key Performance Areas

The successful appointee will be required to perform tasks necessary for the safe and complete delivery of the procedures outlined in study protocols to the highest standard. Amongst other responsibilities, they will be required to:

  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of all active trials, ensuring compliance with international standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) with the Management Team
  • Assist in the preparation of study materials.
  • Assist in all clinical aspects of active studies, including venepuncture, cannulation blood sample processing, drug administration and clinical observation when necessary ensuring that they are carried out within the Hospital’s and Sponsor’s policies, research governance, Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority, and Amended Regulations 2006 Incorporating International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) and any other applicable laws and regulations
  • Play an active role in the study nursing team to ensure that;
  • The clinical team adhere to the set standard operating procedures in the conduct of clinical trials and that all staff are full trained in the SOPs pertaining to their daily work.
  • The data collection process is enhanced for quality with quality control measures in place.
  • The recruitment/ accrual targets are being met.
  • Proper source documentation procedures are followed.
  • Identify study specific training needs and consequent provision of training in liaison with the Trial Manager for study staff during study implementation.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing (for Research Nurses positions) with experience in clinical research conduct.
  • Must be knowledgeable on HIV/AIDS prevention and care.
  • Must be knowledgeable on management of COVID 19 patients
  • Must be registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana
  • Must have experience in developing and leading quality improvements projects
  • At least a minimum of 3 years relevant post qualification experience working as a Research nurse.
  • Business related qualifications will be added advantage

Competencies

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Computer literate
