The Department of Economics invites eligible postgraduate applicants to apply for the graduate tuition scholarship for the academic year 2026/27.

This scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic excellence and research potential. The scholarship covers tuition for the normal duration of the programme. Master’s degree students are eligible for up to 50% tuition waiver. PhD students are eligible for up to 100% tuition waiver. The scholarship covers the normal duration of the programme and is renewable annually based on academic performance, assistantship fulfilment and policy compliance.

Duties: Successful candidates will assist the Department with teaching related activities for undergraduate courses.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants who wish to apply for the tuition waiver for the Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or combined major in Economics, with at least a 2(i).

Applicants who wish to apply for the PhD tuition waiver must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or combined major in Economics, with at least a 2(i) and a Master’s degree in Economics. The Master’s degree must have coursework and research components.

Applicants should not be in full-time employment during the scholarship period, and should not have any record of academic dishonesty. Preference will be given to University of Botswana registered full-time students.
