The University of Botswana (UB), a state- owned tertiary education institution invites suitable candidates for the position of Director, Financial Services, in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

The Director, Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the university, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the university's overall mission and objectives.

  1. Strategic Leadership and Governance
  2. Budgeting and Financial Analysis
  3. Financial Management, Reporting and Compliance
  4. Fixed Asset Management
  5. Grant and Projects financial Management
  6. Cash flow and Treasury Management
  7. Customer and Stakeholder Experience
  8. Risk Management and Compliance 
  9. People Management

Minimum Qualifications; applicant must have attained;

  1. Bachelor of Accounting or relevant accounting degree.
  2. A relevant professional qualification, Chartered Accounting, is required (BICA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  3. Master's degree Accounting, Finance or a related field is required is an added advantage.

Experience:

At least ten (10) years of experience in financial management or leadership roles.

Professional Registration or license

BICA membership is required.

Other requirements

  1. Extensive experience in financial management at senior management level.
  2. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
  3. Proven experience in managing financial operations, including budgeting, financial planning and reporting.
  4. Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
  5. Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
  6. Exceptional problem solving and decision-making abilities.
