DEPUTY DIRECTOR, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - VACANCY NO: IRC 800

The University of Botswana seeks to recruit a Deputy Director; Resource Management in the Department of Library Services.  The main purpose of the job is to provide strategic leadership and expert knowledge and understanding of Library Resourcing strategy, policy, processes and systems

Requirements:  Applicants should have (i) Bachelors’ degree in any subject, plus a Master’s degree in Library and information Studies. (ii) Minimum of eight years’ experience, three of which must have been at senior management level in an academic  Library or equivalent; (iii) Extensive understanding and application of ICT in academic library environment (iv) Very good knowledge of developing strategic and action plans their implementation, monitoring and evaluation.  (v) Membership of Professional Association is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies: Planning, analytical, problem–solving, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, digital technology skills, project management and performance management skills.

Duties:  The successful candidate  will be expected to perform the following duties: (i) Lead overall management and policy formulation and guidance in information resources development and bibliographic control; (ii) Monitor changes in online and internet publishing and make resource allocation  recommendations that maximize effectiveness of expenditures; (iii) Plan, coordinate and implement Library ICT initiatives, particularly; Library on-line integrated system, Millennium, electronic resource delivery and evaluating options for print vis.  Online purchases (iv) Review vendor contracts and participate in  negotiations; monitor contracts  with vendors, licensing  agreements, print subscriptions; and implement approved systems; (v) Guides development of e-resources management services.
