BROADCAST ENGINEER (Contract position)

The University of Botswana seeks to recruit a Broadcast Engineer for the University Campus Radio, and TV.  This position plays a critical role in enhancing the setting up of live broadcasts in the studio and in the field and the maintenance of broadcasting hardware and software.

Duties:

  • Setting up of live broadcasts in the studio
  • Installation of software and hardware in the studio and the field.
  • Keeping scheduled broadcasts running
  • Maintenance of studio equipment
  • Controlling and adjusting incoming and outgoing broadcast signals to regulate sound volume signal strength and signal clarity.
  • Ensuring high-quality audio and video for all shows.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting broadcasting equipment, including cameras, audio systems and lighting.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation and operating procedures.
  • Budgeting and procurement of new equipment.
  • Addressing broadcasting problems as they arise.

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of Master of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, broadcasting, or related fields.

Experience

  • At least five years’ experience in Broadcast Transmitters Operations and Maintenance for radio and television. The following will be added advantage.
  • Research experience in the broadcasting industry,
  • Membership of the Engineers Registration Board
  • Having served in a managerial role for at least 2 years
