ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR  
         
The Department of Psychology is looking for an innovative psychologist who can assist in developing psychology as an academic and professional discipline in Botswana.

Duties: The successful candidates will be expected to: (i) teach psychology courses; (ii) supervise research projects and practicums; (iii) initiate, promote and participate in research; (iv) provide academic leadership through programme development, clinical consultation, stakeholder engagements, and research; (v) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) raise/solicit research funds from funding agencies within and outside the country; (vii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department; (viii) carry out any other responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Candidates should have or be: (i) an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology combined or single major) from a recognized institution; (ii) a Master’s Degree in Industrial-Organisational Psychology, Community Psychology, Developmental/Child Psychology, Applied/General Psychology, Couple and Family Psychology, Clinical/Counselling Psychology, and/or Neuropsychology from a recognized university or institution with accredited Psychology programmes; (iii) registered or eligible to be registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC); (iv) at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (v) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles in Psychology discipline; lead and/or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (vi) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vii) evidence of effective academic leadership; (viii) the following will be an added advantage: an earned Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Industrial-Organisational Psychology, Community Psychology, Developmental/Child Psychology, Applied/General Psychology, Couple and Family Psychology, Clinical/Counselling Psychology, and/or Neuropsychology; experience in supervising students’ research projects and/or practicums. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.

Remuneration: The University of Botswana offers a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.
