SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER-DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTESIA AND CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE

VACANCY NO: FM/ANA 03/2019

Duties:  The successful applicant should be able to; (i) teach undergraduates and graduate students (ii) supervise research projects, (iii) initiate, promote and participate in research; (iv) provide academic leadership through programme development and research; (v) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) participate in all academic and professional activities of UB, the Faculty and Department; (vii) provide service to the Community, University, and Profession; (viii) Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements:

Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: (i) at least a Masters of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent PLUS evidence of sub-specialty; (ii)  a first degree in medicine (MBBS, MD, MBChB from a recognized institution or related fields with at least a 2(i) pass / GPA of at least 3.6; (iii) at least 3 years of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iv) a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer reviewed journal articles; (v) lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters. The applicants should also demonstrate evidence of service. A relevant PhD and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.

Lecturer: Applicants should have: (i) at least a Masters of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent PLUS evidence of sub-specialty; (ii) a first degree in medicine (MBBS, MD, MBChB) from a recognized institution or related fields with at least a 2(i) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6. The applicant should also show evidence of engagement in research and service. A relevant PhD, teaching experience at a University or comparable institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages.
