On behalf of the five-person UB delegation, Dr Sebina spoke of the strong cultural connection between the people of Botswana and Lesotho which has come a long way from the tripartite arrangement of the University of Basotholand, Bechuanaland and Swaziland in 1964. Addressing the Principal of the school, Dr. Sebina noted that UB would “wish to develop the same relationship with your (high) school,”. Dr Sebina also presented on programmes offered by UB and the cut-off points for admission. He further invited Mrs Ramothamo and some of her students to visit UB so that they may appreciate the University’s facilities and academic programmes. Mrs Ramothamo assured the UB delegation that her students are ‘not afraid’ to meet such admission requirements.

The Higher Education Fair was hosted by the Council on Higher Education Lesotho (CHE) between February 23 and 24, 2018 to provide information to prospective tertiary students about higher education institutions in Lesotho and in the SADC region, as well as avail a platform for the institutions to showcase their programmes and outputs. The fair also gave financiers of tertiary education a platform to provide career guidance to the prospective tertiary students with a specific focus on career paths that are within the priorities of the Government of Lesotho. The University of Botswana set-up an elaborate 100 m2 stall at the Lesotho National Convention Centre, which attracted multitudes of high school leavers as well as professionals interested in advancing their education.
