Professional Development Programmes

The professional development courses offered by Department of Extra Mural and Public Education (DEPE) enhance the professional capacity of persons who are already employed for effective service delivery or career development. The DEPE Short courses are scheduled for offer throughout the year with varying durations of a day to two weeks. Delivered by highly qualified and experienced facilitators, DEPE short courses are designed and delivered in response to identified skills gaps in the market and expressed needs of clients who are mainly from the government/public sector and also from business, industry, private sector and the local/international nongovernmental organisations and international development agencies.

The DEPE does offer customised short courses on demand. While most the courses are run from the UB main campus in Gaborone and the North Campus in Francistown we also do in house training for Organisations wishing to have this service and are able to make onsite training arrangements. We are only able to run these and all of our other courses when the enrolment is 10 or more people.

Following the calendar, most of the DEPE courses are advertised in the local newspapers about a month before they are due to run and those interested to participate make contact to reserve space and access information on modes of payment.

For each of the courses on offer, there is an assigned coordinator whose details are provided in the overall courses year planner and also on the course advert which also always includes details of the administrative staff (Link to 2012 Year Planner)
