Botswana Book Project donates to Faculty of Health Sciences

Botswana Book Project has donated 46 medical textbooks as well as study guides and aides worth more than P20 000 to the Faculty of Health Sciences. The donation was made in a ceremony held at the Faculty of Health Sciences Block recently.

Botswana Book Project Co-director, Mrs Andrea Malenya, said the books covered a wide range of topics including nursing, anatomy and physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Other topics covered include cardiovascular physiology, laboratory diagnostics, microbiology, psychology and psychiatric mental health, men’s health, health care quality management, and health economics.

Mrs Malenya said since the inception of Botswana Book Project 20 years ago, it has availed over 800 000 books to the children and youth in Botswana. He observed that although the project started small, it had grown steadily.

“We do all of this to realise our mission to help develop an educated and informed nation by  donating books and literacy materials throughout schools in Botswana to offset shortage of books and to assist schools and communities in establishing libraries,” said Mrs Malenya.

Upon receiving the donation, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Yohana Mashalla, expressed gratitude towards the donation.

“It will benefit students a lot if the University received donations of this kind every year,” noted Professor Mashalla.
