PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE (2 YEAR CONTRACT)

VACANCY NO: FHS/SoAHP 3/ 2019

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) undertake teaching of courses in the BSc Medical Laboratory Science programme (ii) conduct research in Laboratory Medicine and (ii) make contributions to the development of medical laboratory science profession (iii) coordinate or lead the activities in the profession (vi) undertake administration/coordination activities at the institution. 

Requirements

Professor: Candidates should have; (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in a Laboratory Medicine field or equivalent; (ii) be registrable with the Botswana Health Professions Council as a Laboratory Scientist; (iii) at least 8 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single author in at least 10 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) the following will be added advantages: the ability to attract funding from international sources; a relevant PhD; multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work; ability to teach Biostatics and Research Methods. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. The CV should also have a detailed list of courses taught and the levels at which they were taught.

Associate Professor: Candidates should have; (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in a Laboratory Medicine field or equivalent; (ii) be registrable with the Botswana Health Professions Council as a Laboratory Scientist; (iii) at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) the following will be added advantages: the ability to attract funding from international sources; a relevant PhD; multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work; ability to teach Biostatics and Research Methods. Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in a­ Laboratory Medicine field or equivalent; (ii) be registrable with the Botswana Health Professions Council as a Laboratory Scientist; (iii) a Bachelors’ Degree in Laboratory medicine/ Biomedical Science/ Medical Laboratory Technology with at least a 2(i) pass / GPA of at least 3.6; (iv) at least 3 years of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (v) a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer reviewed journal articles; (vi) lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (vii) applicants should demonstrate evidence of service; (vii) the following will be added advantages: the ability to attract funding from international sources; a relevant PhD; demonstration of effective academic leadership; multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work; ability to teach Biostatics and Research Methods. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. The CV should also have a detailed list of courses taught and the levels at which they were taught.

Lecturer: Applicants should have: (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in a Laboratory Medicine field; (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory medicine/ Biomedical Science/ Medical Laboratory Technology with at least a 2(i) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6; (iii) be registrable with the Botswana Health Professions Council as a Laboratory Scientist; (iv) show evidence of engagement in research and service; (v) a relevant PhD, teaching experience at a University or comparable institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages, as well as ability to teach Biostatics and Research Methods.
