DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS

VACANCY NO: FE/EDF 6/ 2019: PROFESSOR /ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN COUNSELING AND HUMAN SERVICES


Duties: The successful candidate is expected to; (i) teach counselor education courses at undergraduate and graduate level, and supervise research, practicum and internship; (ii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department, including research and curriculum review; (iii) provide leadership in the Counseling and Human Services, (iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:    

Professor:  Applicant should have; (i) at least a Master’s degree in any of the following areas: Counselor Education and Supervision, School Counseling, Counseling and Human Services, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling;  (ii) at least  8 years of teaching experience and  providing clinical supervision at a University or comparable institution; (iii)  have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed articles reflecting a spread of national, regional and international journals and or publishing outlets; (iv) be lead and or/single author in at least 10 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) demonstrate evidence of service to the University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) demonstrate evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) The following will be added advantages; (a) ability to attract funding from international sources; (b) a relevant PhD; (c) multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work and (d) evidence of engagement in clinical supervision, a record of graduating students in the area of Counseling profession

Associate Professor:  Candidates should have; (i) at least a Master’s degree in any of the following areas: Counselor Education and Supervision, School Counseling, Counseling and Human Services, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling; (ii) at least 5 years of teaching experience; (iii) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed articles reflecting a spread of national, regional and international journals and or publishing outlets; (iv) be lead and or/single author in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) demonstrate evidence of service to the University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) demonstrate evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) The following will be added advantages; (a) the ability to attract funding from international sources; (b) a relevant PhD; (c) multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work and (d) evidence of engagement in clinical supervision, a record of graduating students in the area of Counseling profession.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
