Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in archaeology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The candidate will also be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department. The candidate will be expected to contribute to other academic duties including engaging in research, publications and external professional services. The candidate will be expected to supervise research students and students undertaking field trips. Areas of specialization: The position requires someone with experience in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of GIS and spatial analysis in archaeology; computer applications in archaeology, the use of information technology in teaching and the presentation of post excavation archaeological data. Requirements: The candidate must possess at least a Doctoral degree in Archaeology. The candidate should have demonstrable experience in Southern African archaeological research and in the teaching of and research in the field of innovative computer applications in archaeology. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience at University level. Candidate recruited at senior lecturer level will be expected to have a minimum of three years teaching experience at a University or related institution. A sustained research and publication track record in the stated area of competence is essential. The candidate should demonstrate ability to secure research grants. The candidate should be self-motivated and willing to undertake archaeological research in Botswana.
