Prof Moahi appointed Acting Vice Chancellor

Professor Kgomotso Hildegard Moahi has been appointed to act as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana with effect from February 20, 2017. The appointment follows the resignation of Professor Thabo Fako as Vice Chancellor on February 17, 2017.
Professor Moahi joined the University of Botswana in 1985 as a Documentalist/Database Controller at the then National Institute of Development Research. In 1990, she joined the Department of Library and Information Studies as a Lecturer. She has also served the University as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Head of the Department of Library and Information Studies, among others.
She attained her PhD in Library and Information Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000, a Masters in Information Studies from Sheffield University in 1988, and a BA in Politics and Public Administration from the then University of Botswana and Swaziland in 1982.
The University Council will appoint a Joint Committee of Council and Senate to commence the process for the recruitment of the Vice Chancellor in line with the University Statutes.
