Inter Library Loans

Inter Library Loan enables UB faculty, students and other members to borrow research materials not available in UBLIS from members of the Southern African Inter lending Scheme.

• Materials that may not be requested include Reference works, Special or rare collections, complete issues of Periodicals, Reserved books and those materials charged to other borrowers.

• Before submitting a request, make sure the item is not available in UBLIS, check the Catalog, OPAC and Periodicals Holdings List.

• Complete the ILL request form by providing FULL bibliographic details (USE CAPITAL LETTERS), indicate clearly the "Source of Reference" i.e. where you found the citation you are now requesting.

• Requests are sent via air mail, Telefax and On line to SABINET.

• The requested materials usually arrives after two to three weeks.

• You will be notified by mail, telephone or E mail when the item requested arrives.

• Kindly handle borrowed material WITH CARE and RETURN THEM PROMPTLY.

• The duration of borrowed materials may be three to four weeks.

• The service is generally free to eligible borrowers, External members are required to pay for the service.
