Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education is one of the oldest faculties in the University of Botswana. The Faculty currently consists of eight (9) departments. The Faculty offers both undergraduate and graduate programme, including doctoral degrees. The Faculty has also established a strong research tradition which is evidenced by the excellent research and publications record of its academic staff. Academic staff of the Faculty does not only serve in national committees, but also in different international bodies. This has not only boosted the international profile of the Faculty, but also that of the University of Botswana.
Faculty Vision
The Faculty of Education shall aim to be the center of excellence in teacher education in the region.
Faculty Mission
The Faculty of Education shall contribute to the advancement of the intellectual and human resource capacity of the nation through teacher training. The Faculty believes that the quality of education, and life in general, is dependent on the quality of the teacher in the classroom.
Faculty Objectives
The Mission will be achieved by pursuing the following objectives:
- Professional Education - to provide courses of study and practice designed for the initial training and professional development of teachers, tutors, lecturers and other educational personnel;
- Advanced Study - to serve as a centre for advanced study in Education through which educators, administrators and researchers may attain academic excellence and prepare for leadership roles in Education;
- Research - to support and undertake basic and policy-oriented educational research and to disseminate research and evaluation findings through teaching, publications and seminars;
- Service - to promote expansion, innovation and improvement in Education, through the provision of advice, consultancies and support to academic and professional partners;
- Gender Awareness - to infuse gender sensitivity in our programmes and course offerings.

Faculty Regulations
All programmes in the Faculty are governed by the University General Academic Regulations. Any other relevant information pertaining to the programmes is as stipulated under the appropriate department in the university calendar obtainable from Public Affairs. For entrance requirements, progression & award of degrees, the University General Academic Regulations applies.
Teaching Practice
All pre-service students enrolled in a Bachelor of Education Programme undergo teaching practice as specified in the Faculty Teaching Practice Regulations, obtainable from the Faculty Office, Education.
