eLearning
Development of eLearning
Staff interested in eLearning can book a consulting session with EduTech to evaluate their current teaching and identify ways of integrating eLearning in their courses. The focus of eLearning at UB is on a blended approach in which various modes, methods and media - traditional and innovative - are integrated and organised for appropriate learning. Lecturers embarking on eLearning are guided by the eLearning support team offering services in Instructional Design, Online Media Development and Graphic Design.
Definition of eLearning at UB
eLearning at the University of Botswana has been defined as the appropriate use of ICTs for advancing student-oriented, active, open, collaborative and life-long teaching-learning processes.

Booking of eLearning SMART Classrooms
EduTech has set up four eLearning SMART classrooms. In these classrooms semi-embedded networked computers are used to facilitate eye contact among group participants and allow interaction, discussion and collaboration between students and the lecturer. The computers are laid out in clusters to further support collaborative work.
The four SMART classrooms are located in:
- 238/114 (CAD, 15 computers)
- 238/212 (CAD, 36 computers)
- 225/101 (old Faculty of Business, 42 computers)
- 245/136 (new Faculty of Business, 30 computers)
Interested lecturers can book these classrooms for their students. IMPORTANT: these are not drop-in labs, therefore students can only be in these labs when supervised. To book a SMART Classroom call Lindah Ntutunyane at extension x5204.
