Dr Joel Mokuedi Magogwe

Dr Magogwe is a Senior Lecturer in the Communication and Study Skills Unit (CSSU) of the University of Botswana (UB). He was the Acting Deputy Director of the CSSU. Dr Magogwe’s field of expertise is Applied Linguistics with a wealth of experience in teacher education. Dr Magogwe currently teaches communication and study skills. He has also run workshops for teachers, in-service trainees and professionals in public and private departments.   Dr Magogwe has for a long time been involved in developing the communication and study skills curriculum as well as writing a book, modules, teaching materials in this area. He has published articles on language teaching in referred journals both locally and internationally. He has also published minor articles in areas such as change communication. [view profile]

Philip Mhundwa

Dr. Philip H. Mhundwa is a senior lecturer in the Communication and Study Skills Unit.  His research interests are in Classroom discourse, Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, English for Academic/Specific Purposes and ELT Methodology for speakers of other languages. [view profile]

Dr Ambrose B. Chimbganda

Dr A. B. Chimbganda is a Senior Lecturer in CSSU. Has over 30 years of teaching experience in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana both at Senior Secondary School and University. Also taught Business Communication at Harare Polytechnic, Headed the Creative Writing Unit of UNESCO later transferred to the Curriculum Development Unit (Zimbabwe), Education Officer responsible for English Curriculum Development in Zimbabwe and Chief Examiner for JC, “O” & “A” level English exams. Have been with UB for the last 18 years during which time I helped to establish the Writing Clinic in 1996. Violet Bridget Lunga

Dr. Leonard Ben Mwalimu Nkosana

Tlamelang M. Mothibamele

Mrs Mothibamele is a lecturer in the Communication and Study Skills Unit. She has been a lecturer in the Colleges of Education. She was the Coordinator of Communication and Study Skills in Francistown College.

She has been involved in teaching distance education programmes with Diploma in Education when it started in 1999 and later became Assistant Coordinator. She then joined the BBA programme and has been handling the two programmes. 

Mrs Mothibamele has also taken keen interest in matters of national concern. She has presented in several workshops in the college and to other Ministry of Education sectors on HIV and AIDS. She is a member of several bodies that serve the community like Forestry Association of Botswana. [view profile]

Unity Nkateng

Mrs Unity .M. Nkateng joined the Communication and study skills Unit in 2003 from Tlokweng  College of Education.  She teaches Communication and Study Skills I and Communication and Study Skills II. Her research interests are English for Academic purposes (Academic writing), Discourse analysis, Business English and Intercultural Communication. Her other major interest is Language Planning and Policy. Unity is actively involved with AIDS education Programs. [view profile]

Golebamang Galegane

Golebamang Galegane has taught in various primary schools.  Later she joined the Colleges of Education offering Communication and Study Skills (CSS).  She later joined the University of Botswana to offer the same course.  Golebamang’s research interests are classroom-based covering topics such as Perceptions of students on CSS, Coherence and Cohesion in academic writing, Business Communication and The teaching of poetry in primary schools.  At the University of Botswana, her duties include teaching students on distance mode through the Center for Continuing Education and supervising students research projects. [view profile

Maureen Sindisiwe Kalane

Mrs Maureen Sindisiwe Kalane is currently Lecturer of Communication for academic and professional purposes at the University of Botswana-Communication and Study Skills Unit. Currently, she is the Acting Deputy Director of Communication and Study Skills Unit. She has been teaching Communication for Academic Purposes and Business Communication to undergraduates since 1995. She started her career as a teacher of General English and has taught for four years at various secondary schools in Botswana. She later joined the Department of Communication Skills and Public Relations Department at the Botswana Institute of Administration and Commerce – (BIAC) where she was Senior lecturer and Assistant Head of Department. She lectured in Business Communication and Public Relations.  Mrs Kalane has conducted research, presented papers on Business Communication and Public Relations at both national and international conferences, and published in refereed journals. She has also co-edited a recently published book- Developing Communication & Study Skills and wrote a chapter on Concise Business Communication. [view profile]

Penny G. Moanakwena

Penny G. Moanakwena has previously taught at junior secondary school and teacher training (pre-service and in-service) levels in Botswana. Penny has also been a curriculum development officer for primary and secondary school English. Her research interests are mainly in the area of ‘functional literacies’, looking at learning programs and how instructional processes are used to enhance learning achievement. Her other major interest lies with policy development, and analysis for implementation.  This was her focus area during her one year Hubert Humphery Fellowship with Boston University in the USA. Brigid G. Conteh  

Brigid G. Conteh is a lecturer in Communication and Study Skills at the University of Botswana, Gaborone, Botswana.  She has taught English language and literature at both junior and secondary schools in Botswana. Before joining the University of Botswana, she taught Communication and Study Skills at Colleges of Education where she was also a Head of the Department. Her qualifications are Bachelor of Arts ( Humanities) from the University of Botswana and  Masters in English Education from the Georgia Southern University (USA). Faith Anna Brown (MCoT)     

Faith A. Brown is the Coordinator, CSSU Writing Clinic & Student Support Services. She has previously taught English at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Nigeria for almost two decades. She left ATBU as a senior lecturer, and acting Director of the university’s General Studies Directorate. She is the founder and editor-in-Chief of The Pearl magazine. She writes short stories and poems. Her poems ‘A Dance in the Air’, ‘Gourmet’s Touch’ and ‘A Song of Reminiscence’ are online @ Poetry Canada. Also, her poem titled ‘Saved’ was selected in an international poetry competition and published in Transcending Moments, an anthology of the Poetry Institute of Africa, South Africa in 2006. Her collection of poems ‘Endless Seasons’ is in press. She has also received an award as Woman of the 21st Century for her contributions to English for Academic Purposes, from the American Biographical Institute. She is currently investigating the reading strategies of ESL university students for her doctoral research. [view profile]

Eureka  Mokibelo

Mrs. E. B. Mokibelo is a lecturer in the Communication and Study Skills Unit. After training as a teacher in 1988, she joined the Teaching Service Management department as a teacher of Setswana where she served for fifteen years. In 2003 she joined the University of Botswana as a language educator in the department of Languages and Social Sciences Education. [view profile]

Lovie Edwin Seru

Lovie E. Seru is a lecturer in the Centre for Academic Development, University of Botswana. He has previously taught English at various secondary schools in Botswana as well as EAP at Molopolole College of Education, an affiliate of the University of Botswana. Ruth Mogana-Monyepi

Ruth Mogana-Monyepi is presently a lecturer in CSS unit of UB. Acting Coordinator for Education June – July 2008. She previously lectured in Colleges of education and tutored Students doing Dip. Ed (Primary) by Distance mode. Her work involved supervising Teaching Practice and coordinating different committees over the years. During the previous year she acted as the Dean of student affairs in LCE and was re- deployed as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.  [view profile]
