General Information

The venue of the congress, Walmont Ambassador Hotel (formerly Grand Palm), is located on the western part of the city and is about a 5-10 minute drive from the city.

Language
The natinal language spoken throughout Botswana is Setswana but English is the country's official language. The congress will be conducted in English.

Climate
July is one of the months in our winter season, with temperatures of 22°C/71.6°F daytime and 5°C/41°F in the evenings.

Time
Local time all year is Greenwich Mean Time plus 2 hours.

Botswana banks are open from 8:30 to 15:30 MOnday to Friday and 8:30 to 11:00 on Saturdays. Foreign exchange facilities are available at the airport and most major hotels. Automatic teller machines are available at a wide variety of outlets.

Currency
Decimal currency is used in Botswana; units are in Pula and thebe. Current exchange rates can be obtained from your bank. Major credit cards are accepted in Botswana. Exchange rates as of 27 June were £1=P12.0, €1=8.21 and $1=P6.06.

Taxes
A value added tax (VAT) of 10% applies to all consumer goods and is included in retail prices.
