Application for undergraduate admission in August 2017 (New Programmes)

Prospective applicants who wish to study the following programmes at University of Botswana (UB) are advised to apply in order to enrol in August 2017.  Applications will be received from 10th to 23rd April 2017.

 
Prospective applicants are advised to take note of the following entry requirements:
  1. General Requirements
    1. Minimum of Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE)/equivalent qualification with  six subjects NOT below a grade of E; and at least five subjects with a minimum of grade C obtained at one or two examination sittings
    2. English Language must at least be a minimum of grade C
    3. Minimum entry BGCSE/equivalent points shall be 34 points
  2. Specific Programme Requirements
 
The following information includes the approved duration and the minimum specific entry requirements for the programmes.
 
a)                 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MATHEMATICS OF FINANCE:  4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language, grade B in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, OR a minimum of grade AA in Science Double Award OR a minimum of grade A in Physics/Chemistry.
                Applicants who are in possession of an appropriate Diploma in Mathematics of Finance or equivalent may be admitted directly into Level 200.

b) BACHELOR OF INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: 4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language.
 Applicants possessing a Diploma in Information and Knowledge Management from the University of Botswana or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution may be admitted into Level 300.
 
Applicants in possession of a Certificate in Information and Knowledge Management from the University of Botswana or its equivalent from a recognized institution may be admitted into Level 200.

c) BACHELOR OF REAL ESTATE;  4 years; BGCSE/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
Applicants possessing a Diploma in Land Management, Land Administration, Estate Management, Geomatics, Land Surveying, Cartography, GIS, or its equivalent with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0 may be admitted directly into Level 200 but will take Level 100 courses if necessary.
NOTE: PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS AND APPLICANTS ARE KINDLY INFORMED THAT THE NAME OF THE PROGRAMME; BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (REAL ESTATE), HAS BEEN CHANGED TO BACHELOR OF REAL ESTATE; THEREFORE THE STUDY PROGRAMME CHOICE FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAD APPLIED FOR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (REAL ESTATE) WILL BE CHANGED TO BACHELOR OF REAL ESTATE.

In processing applications for the August 2017 intake, the University will require that the following be observed:
 
On-line Application:
University of Botswana has an on-line application system whereby prospective applicants can apply on-line wherever they are. All prospective applicants are therefore expected to make their applications online through the ‘’Study AT UB” link on the University of Botswana website: www.ub.bw. Prospective applicants may use any Internet facility available to them to apply.   A guide in the form of a booklet, entitled “ONLINE APPLICATION: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE”, on how to complete an application online is provided through the “STUDY AT UB” link. A Hard copy of the booklet is also available at Undergraduate Admissions Office at Main Campus in Gaborone, Centre of Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown and Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun.
 
Application Material:
All Application materials are available as Application Package and can be accessed through the “STUDY AT UB” link on the University of Botswana Website: www.ub.bw. The same application materials in the form of a booklet entitled, “A Guide to Prospective Applicants: 2017 Undergraduate Admissions” may also be obtained from Undergraduate Admissions Office at the Main Campus in Gaborone; Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in Francistown; and Okavango Research Institute (ORI) in Maun;
 
Applicants with Disability:
University of Botswana welcomes applicants with disability, and considers their applications on academic merit like all other applications. All applicants are expected to state whether they have any disability or not when they apply so that the University’s Disability Support Services Unit can contact them to understand the natureof their disability.  Prospective applicants with any disability may contact the University’s Disability Support Services Unit at the following telephone numbers: (+267)-3554540/2768/4183/4991. The declaration of such information helps the University in assessing the learning needs of all applicants.  The University will; at all times preserve the confidentiality of student information.
 
Changes:
Applicants who have already submitted their applications may submit a request for change of programme to include any of the above listed programmes through a letter to Undergraduate Admissions Office or email to admissions@mopipi.ub.bw.  No changes will be allowed after the closing date.
 
New applications:
Applicants who were not able to submit their applications during the just ended application period may submit their applications online.  Former students who have been away, for some reason, for a period of at least one semester but not more than 10 semesters may also apply during the same period. All applications are to be completed online through the ‘’STUDY AT UB” link on the UB website: www.ub.bw.
 
Admission Processing:
Applicants who meet the set programme entry requirements will be admitted based on academic merit depending on the availability of space. Meeting the minimum entry requirements therefore does not guarantee admission. 
 
Closing date:
The Application processes for August 2017 entry for both local and international applicants closes on 23rd April 2017
