The School is one of four Schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences and offers a diverse range of academic programs in allied health sciences. The School currently has one department, the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and progress is underway to introduce aDepartment of Pharmacy. This will be followed by the introduction of Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the near future.
Mr Modisa Motswaledi is the Head of School of Allied Health Professionals.
The DMLS is a fairly young department that was established in 2008 to meet the increasing demand for higher level skills and complex testing in clinical laboratories. Initially, the programme trained holders of a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology to degree level and subsequently developed fully fledged degree programs in medical laboratory sciences including Cytotechnology and Histotechnology.
