Services for Students

Login and Email accounts
Each student is automatically given a login account on their faculty domain. The login account provides access to all computers in the student labs and in the Library. UB email accounts are automatically created for every student and may be accessed at Details on how to access these accounts are available with the faculty IT support staff.
Internet access is available on workstations at the various computer labs on campus and the Library, and wireless network is available in hostels and most open areas across the campus to enable students to access online information using their own equipment, including wireless-enabled hand-held devices. Students may use their windows logon credentials to access wireless network.
Application Software
Standard Microsoft Office software is available in the student labs and the Library. Specialist software for courses such as engineering, mining, and statistics are made available at departmental computer labs and where possible at the student labs of the relevant faculties.
Computing and Printing Facilities
All students have access to computing and printing facilities for academic use. Printing services are provided in most computing labs at a fee.  As fees vary from faculty to faculty, students are advised to contact their respective faculty IT Support Units for details of the applicable fees in their faculty. Further details of such facilities are available from the faculty IT Support Staff.
