Email

All staff members at the University are assigned an email account. Access to your UB e-mail and computing systems requires a username and password. To register for an email account, a staff member has to fill in an Email Account Request Form, which is obtainable from faculty IT offices and from the Helpdesk. 
  
List Server 
List server facilities are available for those who wish to set up a group to communicate about a specific topic or distribute information to particular groups of persons.  These groups can be setup on request to the IT Department through IT Support persons at faculties and departments or the Helpdesk.
 
Internet/Intranet
Academic and administrative staff have full Internet access from their office PC browsers. The University intranet is the key tool for collaboration within the University. The intranet site http://tirisano.ub.bw is the default home page for all users who use Microsoft Internet Explorer as their default browser. All announcements are made through the intranet, with alerts sent via e-mail to all staff that has access to e-mail.
 
Application Software
The IT Department maintains site licenses for all major software used by the majority of staff. This includes licenses for Microsoft Office Applications and SPSS, which are usually sufficient for general office and teaching purposes. 
 
Computing and Printing Facilities
All staff members at the University are provided with a desktop computer or access to a computer for their use. The IT Department provides hardware and software installation services that include operating system, antivirus and application software installs, file transfers and standard internet settings.
 
Helpdesk Services
The IT Department provides a Central Helpdesk, which is the first point of contact for all IT-related incidents. The helpdesk is staffed with trained agents who make every attempt to assist and resolve all issues promptly.
 
The helpdesk can be contacted by telephone at extension 2318/9. Alternatively you can seek assistance by sending a message to helpdesk@mopipi.ub.bw, the subject line should be your username. You can then state your request for help in the body of the message. 
 
Training
The IT Department provides Training for staff members, on commonly used technologies and applications within the University. Courses cover all aspects of computing from basic to expert use of applications/technologies. Course offerings can be customized to fit the needs and schedule of groups or departments. Email us at ittraining@mopipi.ub.bw  for more information.
