• marketing of the work and projection of the image of the University 
  • to maximise the use of the media and other public oriented outlets to promote the University
  • create consensus in the development of an information/communication strategy for the University, and implementation of such a strategy
  • ensure proper coordination and avoid working at cross purposes with other departments/unit/divisions in order to better sell and project the image and reputation of the University
  • take responsibility for University-wide events which must be superbly planned and executed and ensure that professional protocol is observed in all events of the University and that the events serve as marketing tools of the University
  • be involved in the production and/or dissemination of messages to the internal and external publics on the position of the University on all matters of public interest
  • be involved in the production of up-market publications for use by internal stakeholders, especially students
  • protect and authorize the nature and utilisation of the University name and logo
  • be involved in the development of the University website, especially message content, focus and reach alongside the Information Technology Department and other players
  • support the UB Foundation on development and alumni affairs, especially on matters of fundraising through structured and coordinated publicity of their events and activities
