XXth Congress of the Association for French Studies in Southern Africa (AFSSA)
The French Department will host the XXth Congress of the Association for French Studies in Southern Africa (AFSSA).
In accordance with AFSSA tradition, the Symposium will comprise two parts: a literary part on the theme "Escapism, Commitment, Exoticism", and a pedagogical part which will comprise workshops, discussions and individual presentations on the following theme: "Interactive Competence: Teaching Techniques for Stimulating Students and Games-based Learning". While scholars from all over the world are expected to attend the Congress and present a paper, the workshop is particularly intended for French Teachers in Junior Secondary Schools from South Africa and Botswana.
AFSSA is a grouping of Francophile university academics, researchers, teachers and students in this part of the African continent and the only association of this kind. It organizes a congress every two years in a Southern Africa University town.
